If you completed Step 1 of “Be Great at Producing Results” you now know how much stuff in your life is currently undone. Let our own light shine

life-coach-neslon-mandela-let-our-light-shineThis quote was sent to me recently from an inspirational friend and it moved me emotionally. I have seen recently in my own life where I have allowed fear to stop me from being courageous in many situations in life. I have seen what this has cost me and more importantly the impact it has had on the people who have passed through my life. I have been lucky...better said...blessed to have amazing people in my life who saw beyond my fear and supported me through the most difficult times and let me shine in the very best times of my life. What is precious to me now is that I can clearly see beyond my own fear and pay back the costs I incurred and give back to those who are in need of what I needed. Add a comment

Pathway to Courage
Written by Michael Palmer

life_coach_pathway_to_courageA client was recently stuck in and area of life and experiencing fear of what would happen if they took a particular action. This fear had them paralyzed from taking any action and they were frustrated. Because this is a very common barrier to producing results I thought it valuable to provide you with one of the many exercises that I use in coaching which helps the clients gain insights and pathways to desired results.

The unconscious part of the brain that is responsible for our survival is always at work to ensure we are safe. When there is a perception that our safety could be jeopardized our focus goes to one or a combination of fight, flight or freeze. Human beings have been on this planet a very long time and this is the part of our brain that played a big part in our survival.  No matter how logical we are that the fear is just a perception and not real we will remain stuck until we can communicate otherwise on the level of the subconscious mind.  Like being on the tail of a dragon it can seem like we are out of control or powerless to alter our situation.  The results we want in life as positive as they may seem will remain out of reach until we handle this underlying fear.

What can we do about it?

Excuse me. Am I lost?
Monday, 01 March 2010 01:18
life-coach-lost-and-foundI am certain that you have all heard of the GPS or “Global Positioning System”. It’s great for pinpointing where you are and how you can get to where you want to go. Right? Well I have a new low tech solution that I like to call the JAS system or the “Just Ask Someone” system. I discovered it while traveling in Sydney, Australia last December when my Blackberry GPS was not getting a signal. I though “Wait a second. What if I just asked someone where the train station was?” Add a comment

Live your dreams
Monday, 22 February 2010 04:17
life-coach-take-action-life-is-shortHave you ever been afraid to speak up, take action or share something personal because of fear?

Where does this fear come from?

The past. We are acting now based on a fear that was created in the past that is going to dictate how our future unfolds. I bet if you put your thinking cap on and thought about what you fear today and looked back over your life you would be able to pin point an experience in life that created that fear. As time past you avoided putting yourself into those situations and the fear grew stronger until today where you just don't do it any more.

Finding your path in life looks different for everyone

This is a post written by a friend and past collegue in response to some twitter posts that I had made one afternoon about my clients search for success.

Finding your path in life looks different for everyone and I think that is what makes it interesting.  Thanks for the response Jeff!  What is your take?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I agree with most of Michael's messages but his recent one concerning knowing what you want resonated more than the others.

I have never been (overly) jealous of those who've accumulated or accomplished more. Since I was young, however, I've been envious of those that had an unyielding sense of what they wanted or wanted to be. I'm not referring to an 8 year old who wants to play in the NFL, or a 12 year old who fleetingly wants to be a rock star - but those who seem to have acquired a glimpse of their future and are not willing to bend until that future is their reality. Successful People are Delusional
Saturday, 24 October 2009 02:31

For a long time I have been pondering what makes people more successful than others in their respective fields. What I keep coming back to is the notion that successful people on some level have the characteristic of being delusional.

Now when I first say that you are likely thinking "What? Successful people like Bill Gates or (fill in the blank) successful person is delusional?" Well let's think about it for a second. One of the greatest determinants of achieving something is the belief that it is possible. If you believed that something was impossible you would likely not attempt it. Question. When is the last time you tried to walk on water with the intention of testing that belief system? Maybe never, maybe at the age of five. When I had this thought about success a few years back, I actually tried to walk on water as an experiment at one of my swim work outs. It didn't go well, it was just an awkward looking entrance to the swimming pool, but I tried it. Add a comment
